About John Scott

I was born in Dallas, Texas. I moved to Knoxville, Tennessee with my family when I was five years old. I grew up in a big family with six kids. We were always in church. I was saved at the age of eight through a local church VBS outreach. My mom and dad loved to do puppet ministry with the kids on the street on Saturdays. Church has always been a big part of my life.

I graduated from Karns High School. Then I went into the USAF from 1988 to 1996.

I have been married to my wife Sarah for 17 years and we have four kids together, Flynn, age 14; Brogan, age 13; Grier, age 9; and Clary, age 6. I also have two kids from a prior marriage who are grown and living in the surrounding area, Ashley, age 27, and Joshua, age 23. My daughter Ashley made me a grandpa for the first time, to a sweet baby girl, Madelyn, born in July of 2020.

I first met Pastor Barry and Bob when they knocked on my front door to ask if the church could use electrical and water supply for the VBS ministry at Center Faith, as our property connects directly to the churchyard. I really connected with them. My wife had been praying for over a year that we would find a church to attend with our kids that would feel welcoming. After Pastor Barry and Bob came by, she encouraged me to take the kids that Sunday, as she was still working weekends and unable to come along. The kids and I really loved Center Faith from the first time we visited. Eventually, my wife changed positions at her job so that she could attend with us. It has been one of the best changes to our life, being a part of this church. The community and fellowship we receive there is always encouraging to us and helps to point us to Jesus, no matter what is going on in life. I was asked to help with audio/video and live streaming a few years ago, as I have a background in computers and networking. I love being a part of the staff and helping the church in this ministry. They have become a family to us.

John enjoys gaming, pc building, networking, handyman projects, and pineapple upside-down cake.
